    68 Gauges

    What are the correct gauges for a 68 400hp? Tach, oil, temp?? Thanks for any info.

      The 68 427/400 HP tach has the yellow zone from 5300-5600 and the red zone from 5600-7000. The 327/350 HP and 427/390 HP engines had the same. The 427/435 has a yellow zone from 6300-6500 and the owners manual says don't permit the pointer to enter the red zone beyond 6500 RPM. The temp guages are all the same range indicated 100-250. The oil pressure guage has a 0-70 indicated range.

          After looking at my original owner 68 327/350's tach I discovered it does not match what is printed in my original owners 68 owners manual. My 68's tack yellow zone starts about 5700 to 6000, and 6000 begins the red zone.
