I would like to start the restoration of my 60 hardtop, but am a bit frightened by all the negative statements I have heard about the degree of difficulty. Does anyone know of a video that would take me through a step by step tutorial of the restoration process. The aim is really weak on this process.
I don't know of any videos or manuals. There aren't many places that can do this, either. I have restored a few & I want to warn you that while you are putting your top back together, you will hear yourself using words that you never knew existed.
To me, it's a 2 person job because of the riveting & you need many hands. You might try seeking a shop that would take it on. Ask around, though. There is one shop in particular I've been hearing some horror stories about lately, & they were once quite reputable. I won't get into details because stories are stories & it's not my place to say. So just be careful. If you have specific questions, I can try to help.
Good luck,
Rich
it's my understanding they are one in the same, (father and son?). I know there are many happy customers out there however After seeing the way they stand behind their work when a problem does arise,( a local neighbor had his top done there with many unresolved problems) I think I will pass on these guys and keep my money safely in my pocket. Is there no one else?
