    Carb Numbers

    This Quadrajet was on my 300Hp 327 part# 7023212 D4

What the h_ ll did it go on originally?, a Caprice wagon? Cub Kadet? Vesper?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

    Re: Carb Numbers

    Chuck,
I believe the info is as follows for your 7023212 carb. Info obtained from Carbs Unlimited web site.

    702 means it is a 1960's carb
3 means it is 1963 carb
2 is a 4bbl carb federal standard emissions
1 means it is a chevy
2 means is is for an automatic trans

Now your D4 should have more numbers after it. the letters after the 7023212 says what plant the carb came from and after the letters are a set of numbers that would be the date code, XXX day of the year probably followed by a 3 for the year of production. the three for 1963.

This may be info you already have but in case you didn't I thought it might help. Sorry I couldn't find the actual model it is for.

    Regards,
    Brandon

      Re: Thanks Brandon

That's great information I appreciate it.

Seeing that my car is a four speed I wonder what the integral differences are between the two carbs other than linkages.

It's obviously not what the General had on "baby" originally, but what else is new

      Thanks again Brandon,

      Chuck

        Re: Thanks Brandon

That site has a lot of good info. I had them rebuild a carb for me too and they did a nice job.

I am not sure what the differences between the an Auto and a Standard trans carb is. The BB and SB difference is obivious. I think that the vacume ports might be different between the Auto and standard trans. Perhaps someone will post an answer to this question.

Do you need the correct numbers for the carb that belongs in you car? I believe I have them in one of my books.

          Re: Thanks Brandon

As the Quadrajet was introduced in the 1965 model year, I don't beleive it would be for a '63 application.

            Re: Carb Numbers

            Chuck,
Actually the number you gave is confusing. The Quadrajet was introduced in 1965; there are no 1963 production Quadrajets. The 702 means it is a 1960's Federal carb, but the 3 has to be wrong. Sure it isn't an 8? Then it would be a '68 Carb.

              Re: Carb Numbers

Hey Mikey, it was 11:30 P.M. and it was well past my bed time so it could very well have been an 8

I'll pull out my ahh "visual helpers" and re-check.

Thanks one and all for your feed back,

If the 3 is really an 8, then the carb is for a 68 camero automatic small block.

The running gear in this poor old ride is anything BUT a Corvette when I start looking at the numbers on all these loose pieces and parts that came with it

I'm curious where this hand crank goes though.

                    Chuck,
I think you and I are rowing the same boat.

My '72 BB has needed more parts than I care to count. I am doing to jobs, one is finding oringinal parts to replace the crap that is on the car, and the second is resoring the original part that I find. Oh then we have the the putting back together. ... Ohhh and the two extra jobs I need to fund this addiction called vette fever.

I gotta say I love doing this though. My car had three tires in the salvage yard but I should look and run like new when I am done. It has been a child hood dream to have a shark and I always wanted to rebuild a car I just didn't plan on the to coming together. This car will be in the family for many years when I am done.

                    Good luck on your project.

                    Brandon

Gass guzzlers? Na they should be called "cash guzzlers"

But like you, this is a long term labor of love. The only exception is that I'm getting burried in mine

And according to my wife, that sorroful event may come sooner than I think!

                          Re: Figures

The hand crank goes on the ATM, which connects to the parts houses, which connects to UPS, which connects to your wife's big toe
