The trim plate on my 68 coupe reads 425 Trim, 992 Paint. However, behind gas tank against bucket, crayon reads 426. Which would you go with?

Re: True Trim # on 68
Go with the trim plate...the crayon mark on the rear body upright is the job number for the car used to track it through the build process before VIN was assigned. Job numbers for Corvette cycled, 1-500, before repeating as this was a sufficient range to identify work in progress based on plant capacity. You should also find this number repeated in other places like on the front RH firewall in the engine compartment typically hidden beneath blackout, Etc.- Top
