Hello All:
My '74 L48 automatic has front exhaust hangers mounted on the frame rather than the tranmission mounted support. I've purchased the correct support from Paragon and have a few questions to ask before I screw something up.
In order to attach the support it looks like I have to slide the crossmember back a few inches to get access to the bolts on the back of the transmission. I plan to support the rear of the transmission, remove the two bolts in the center of the crossmember (which I assume will free it from the transission mount), and remove the two bolts and frame through-bolt on each end of the crossmember. This should allow me to slide the crossmember back along the exhaust pipes enough to gain access to the bolts on the rear of the tranmission. Does this sound right or I'm I missing something.
Also, the Assembly Manual (8C Sheet 3)says to replace two existing bolts on the transmission with PT # 9418994 and secure them with what looks like a French Lock PT # 3937866. Could someone tell the specifications of the these bolts and where I might find the French Lock?
