Through my old contacts with previous employer (I'm retired state police) I located the original owner's mother. She has provided tons of info re: her son. He was paralysed in Vietnam and his dream was to own a corvette. He purchased this car in Calif. new and eventually moved to Washington state, where he and his brother were to race it (brother being the driver). His brother was killed by a drunk driver and the car was sold. Eventually, original owner bought the car back (but car was in bad shape). Friends (a few not so friendly) helped him dismantle the car in order to restore it. Owner died and shortly after, parts were missing (engine block, tranny, misc.) I was given the car after his uncle (who knew nothing of the car) acquired it and knew of my love of corvettes. (I have a '62 & '66). Misc. parts are slowly showing up at my door (from contacts I've discovered; relatives and friends that helped originally). For example, heads are #3919842 & distributor #1111296. Still iffy as to what was original. Thanks to all who've helped me so far. Stay tuned...part numbers coming.

Re: Update on unknown 68
Don interesting update. If the original owners mother is still living in the same house, the POP and other original owner stuff could still be available. If you visited the mother and showed her picture of the POP or an orignal she may remember it if the son lived at home when he purchased the car. Interesting that the original owner sold and was able to buy the car back. With your professional contacts a title search could be interesting venture.- Top
