    1978 Gas tank leak

In process of removing and cleaning out the gas tank on my '78 Silver anniv. I came to find that the "goo" on the inside was really a patch put in by a previous owner. Unfortunately I did not realize this until after I had it all cleaned and realized that that same goo was not old gas, but in fact some kind of patch. I'm hoping that someone is aware of a sealant that can work with the plastic bladder installed in these tanks.

    Thanks!

Joe - I am no expert on the post 76 change to use a bladder in the tank, but I would be very leary of patching one. I would assume there would be a supplier that would provide a replacement to use inside the tank....maybe Quanta? Craig

Nope, nobody makes replacement bladders - Quanta makes what they call a '75-'77 tank, but it requires re-use of the existing bladder (the top of the bladder is the gasket between the filler/sending unit and the tank).
