Recently while driving my '66 I had the belts of my left rear tire separate. Thankfully I was able to get home before the tire destroyed itself.
I decided to buy the Pirelli P4000 P215/70-15 tires that Duke has talked about so much. I can tell everyone I'm really pleased with the tires. It's hard to explain the diference between my old radial tires and the new P4000, but I would say it would be like comparing radials to bias-ply.
Despite the fact that I'll never see the speeds the P4000 are rated for, the handling and the drivability of the new tires is like night and day.
FYI, I have the tires mounted to the stock 5.5 x 15" steel rims and I have no issues regarding fender rubbing or clearance issues.
Regards,
Kurt
