I have been asked by a family member to sell their 71 Corvette due to health reasons. He is the original owner of the car (with original bill of sale), 48,000 miles, t-tops, removable rear window, protect-o-plate, 4-speed, 350 engine. Car did have a repaint in 1989 and still looks beautiful. Has been in heated/controlled environment since the day it was purchased. I have not been able to find the build sheet (at least not on top of gas tank or behind seat backs). Any suggestions on where else I could possibly find the build sheet? Any ideas on what a good starting price is for this car? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Opinions on 71 Stingray
Other locations to check for a copy of the "build sheet" would be between tach and speedo gauges and possibly under rear carpet in storage area.
Unless this is a LT-1 car, base motor ZQ3 probably doesn't need a Corvette Order Copy to help with sale.
Looking at Mecums auction prices for 1971 coupes at both Bloomington and Carlisle and at the car corrals for both events. I would suggest starting the price at $21,500, if this is a LT-1 car, probably 30K is more accurate.- Top

Re: Opinions on 71 Stingray
You have one of the most important documentation items in having the protect-o-plate. This will identify the engine, transmission, and rear-end. The trim plate will identify paint color and interior. The air-conditioning, power brakes, and power brakes will be on the car if they were options. There were only two radio options. I would not be to concerned about the tank sticker with the original bill of sale and protect-o-plate. From your description someone will get a great car that they could drive to a NCRS function and become real proud of their purchase after judging. Are you going to list it in the Driveline? Some members do not read this board.- Top

What is the Driveline? I want to make sure that I sell this car correctly. And I do have to say that this car is gorgeous. The interior has minimal wear. Carpet is mint, some of the woodgrain is coming off the console, their are no cracks in the dash, seats are ok. Paint job is still beautiful after all these years. On the down side...no power steering and it is a disc brake car. But the car is sweet and someone will not be disappointed.- Top

The Driveline is a publication by NCRS, the sponsor of this board. THe Driveline is published six times a year. It has member ads, for sale, wanted, etc. Also commercial ads are in it.
For the paultry sum of $30.00 a year, the Driveline, and the Restorer which has technical articles, club information, items of personal interest, and event reports. We think that it is the best deal going in the Corvette hobby.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Opinions on 71 Stingray
What color is the cars exterior and interior? Most 65 and all later model Corvettes have disc brakes. Does it have power windows and power steering? The the deluxe interior option, it will have cut pile carpeting, wood grain in the door panels and carpet along the bottom of the door panels beneath a chrome strip.- Top
