For sale on eBay is a "neutral safety switch" Delco Remy #D2200 1993659. Can anyone advise if this is the correct switch for my '65 L-75 Powerglide backup light car? Sure hope it is, as they are EXPENSIVE through the usual sources.
My 53-72 version of the Corvette Parts & Accessories Manual doesn't list 1993659 as being used on Corvette... My '65 AIM shows two PN's for the A/T neutral safety switch: 19993324 (standard car) and 1993323 (with Z01 option--backup lamps). These numbers reappear in the '72 P&A Catalog indicating the factory original switch's PN was still what service used through 1972...
GM #1993659 is NOT a Corvette back-up switch. It is a switch applicable to some 57-66 passenger cars as well as some 63-67 series 10 and 20 light trucks.
The original switch part numbers are those that Jack described. The last available SERVICE switch was GM #1993411. It was discontinued without supercession in October, 1986.
