fender replacement how much mark could anyone give me a ballpark price on what they think it might cost to replace the complete outer fender on a coupe left front i would prefer to use original style parts and bonding methods i know this is dificult to estimate without seeing the car but i'd like to get some idea of what the repair might cost if possible thanks

re fender replacement how much mark gene there is no damage at this time just a poor repair the fender was spliced halfway between the wheel well and the door above the fender louvers vents behind front wheels the repair is visible from under the fender and i would like to find a way to make this repair invisible the repair consists of what appears to be a sheet metal strip that the front and rear halfs of the fender are riveted to this strip runs from parallel to the firewall from about the hieght of the wheel well opening to the inside top of the fender closest to the hood i hope you can understand this description

re fender replacement how much gene manno mark the bad news is your top suround panel has been cut this piece goes all around the hood as one piece the side gill panels can be replaced no problem same for the bond strips that top panel would be a to repair on the bottom side so us picky ncrs judges wouldn't find it even if ya got the top looking perfect looking at the entire job of replacing the top suround and repair work to both sides of the car and maybe doing the entire body in paint is not what ya want to hear ask your self if ya want an original correct repair or just fixed

OK...how much to replace complete front end???

ok how much to replace complete front end mark gene thanks for the response since my other car is a survivor i doubt i would be happy with a fix how much do you think it would cost to purchase the correct parts to replace the surroud etc and have this installed and ready for paint i'm only looking for an estimate here guys so i can better negotiate a fair purchase price also just to be sure it is my understanding that rivets were not used on front ends to secure the top surround to the inner fenders correct the replaced fender has a or rivets which i am sure is not original the question really concerns the other fender it has rivets spaced about inches apart at the front end of the fender securing the surround to the inner fender my guess is that this panel seperated when the car was hit on the other side and the rivets were added to re fasten the panels i know rivets were not used on cars i just don't know enough about mid year details to make this call thanks for any help

Re: OK...how much to replace complete front end???

re ok how much to replace complete front end brandon k mark it's no small job to replace the entire front end with the match molded repro pieces the cost of the parts is somewhere around i just spent approximately in labor about hours to have those parts i think there were of them installed this included getting the bonding seams and door gaps roughed in but without final finishing or paint cheap huh the other route you can take is a one piece front end and add in the bonding strips you may be able to salvage some of your old front end fiberglass but need to speak with a competent body man brandon
