I didn't replace the lines when I restored. Someone had said I would need to remore the body. Has anyone replaced the lines with the body on? If so,how much ground clearance to negociate over the back end? Or any other problems, tips, etc. Thanks Dennis.

I had a 63 with a leaking gas line jsut in front of the rr wheel. I solved the problem by snaking a rubber gas hose inside the frame rail from rear wheel housing to the engine area in front of the battery using cutouts in the frame. I just cut the old gas line and used hose clamps on the hose. It wasn't orginial, but it worked and was easy. In order to do it like factory you will hve to lift the body to get to line. I think I remember a discussion on the board where using rubber hoses in the manner you describe is a bit of a risky thing to do. If you are going to go for a non-correct replacement, then at least use steel tubing clamped to the frame.

Years ago I lifted the body just enough to replace a damaged front-to-rear brake-line. It's not as difficult as you might think. I removed the bumpers, the body bolts, disconnected the steering colum & undid a few other things, then raised the body with two floor jacks under the rear storage area using a piece of plywood. The body more or less hinged on the radiator support so I didn't have to take the radiator out or disconnect much up front. It was a snap to replace once the body was 5 or 6 inches off the frame. Then just drop it & bolt everything back together.
