Can anyone advise me if 1969 Cortez Silver is the same color as Silverstone silver. Our paint shop only has Silverstone listed for code 986 and I need them to mix Cortez Silver
What paint manufacturer are they using? PPG lists 986 Cortez silver poly same as code 69 in Camaro line. Silverstone is a '68 color with a different mix code. (slightly darker in the color chips)
Suggest to your painter that he fire up his computer and browse the web to www.autocolorlibrary.com. He'll find a COMPLETE list of what PPG paints, by blend code, were used on what cars, in what years, in what places (interior, exterior, Etc.) back to 1928! There's no need to guess...
From the 53-72 Corvette Parts & Accessory manual, the blend code for Cortez Silver as used in '69 is:
The Silverstone Silver color mentioned was used in 1968 and has COMPLETELY different blend code designations!!! Guess I'd think a little about the competence of your painter as this is a pretty basic research/table lookup issue....
