On my early 65 L79 no a/c or back-up lights no PB convertible; there is a capacitor mounted to the clutch/brake assy. It is mounted to the outside, left of the clutch pedal. One lead is about 7 inches long the other is 4 inches. The connectors are a male copper spade type. They are both bent at a compounded 45 degree angle like a V. Each spade is about 1 inch long if straightened out. I believe it connects accross the brake switch terminals. It was not hooked up when I did the dissasembly. It has it's own mounting bracket, which is clamped around the capacitor, held together with a small brass rivet. This cap. bracket is held on with a tapered recessed 3/8 headed screw. The screw's head has RBW with a continuous inner circle and 2 other outer circles stopping at each RBW letter. The capcitor info is MGTS 2P47-1, .47 MFD, 200 V.D.C., CDE +- 10%. Is this original to the car?? Or is this an aftermarket choke for radio noise? I cannot find any proof of it's existance in the JG ASM, etc.. This capacitor looks old and indeed looks to be original to the car, with dirty yellowish waxlike material on its outer body with black wires. Thanks for any help! Dick Gutman
