    Hood Release Cable

The grommet for the hood release cable in the firewall of my '65 has a hole in it only big enough for the wire cable. From the inside the cable housing butts up against the grommet. However, all the illustrations I find show the cable housing protruding through the grommet and firewall. My question is, which is correct? Should the grommet be big enough to allow the cable housing to go through the firewall? Thanks.

    Dave -

The coiled external sheath protrudes through the grommet, but not by much - mine does by maybe 1/4" or so.

Thanks John Z. I appreciate the info. I didn't change this grommet, it came on the car.
