I know there are 2 different sizes. 1 3/8" and 1 1/2". I believe my 70 M-21 uses a 1 3/8". I had a 1 1/2" and it seemed to work fine.(Iknow not broke, don't fix). In an attempt to be correct, I installed a lakewood adjustable stud at the 1 3/8".
In pulling my trans I noticed that the fork was digging into the firewall. May be the reason for my shift grinding. Why are there different sizes? To me the longer length would put the fork pivot futher forword.(away from the firewall). That would make the longer one a better choice for me.
If it has to do will the pedal adjusting, I am now at the lower end of the rod. I don't think I can adjust it any further down
Everything being equal,(correct trans, bellhousing, fork, clutch, throwout, etc), I must be missing something here?
Rather fix it now while its all apart.
BTW, I bubba'd it for now by grinding the upper edge of the fork to clear.
