    003

003 was scheduled to "cross the auction block" at the Rand/Workman auction in NY last night between 6 and 8 PM. Anyone know what it bid to or if it sold???

    Loren,

-------Cant help you on exact prices but general feeling is that there were only about 10 bidders raising thier hands. Very low sell ratio. Many disappointments on the selling side. Appeared to be a well thought out and produced auction, but date and location may have been a bigger factor than the auction company originally bargained for..........Bill S

A mere Million for #003?! If BJ auction can get 3 Mil for that ugly Olds concept car, the World's Oldest Corvette is certainly worth the $2.5 to 5 mil that the auction house valued it at. The car's owners should consign it to BJ in January, they'll get the bucks!

Just wondering, is it absolutely certain that 001 and 002 were destroyed ?

Yes, it has been confirmed. I have seen the Engineering Work Orders which indicate that they were TEST vehicles and were DESTROYED or parted out to some other vehicles, I.e. the serial numbers were destroyed and not reissued.
I know for a fact that one ( I don't recall off hand which one, #1 or #2) of the bodies was used as a fire test and was totally consumed in the test. As I recall the other one was tested so severely that it wasn't reusable/saleable anyway.
