Thoughts on Automobile Magazines somewhat recent pick of the C2's as the #1 pick of the "Coolest Cars of All Time" against some very heavy competition?

Re: C2's The Coolest Car of all time
I do think the '63 thru '67 Corvette coupes are an absolutely stunning style, as far as a design for an automobile goes, however I very much like a lot of others as well. Such as '67 thru '69 Shelby GT 500 mustangs, '71 Cuda 440 SIX PACK and Hemi Challengers, '70 Boss 302 and 429's, '69 SS/RS 396 Camaro pace cars, way too many to limit a best overall. That's why I love this country, variety!!!!!!!!!!!- Top

Any of the COPO cars,ZL-1's Couple sleepers was the Factory 69 SS 427 Nova, Not a big Mopar guy but the Silver Bullet 67 GTX 426 out of Detroit is VERY unique. Guess used to cruise Woodward Ave. with the Mopar engineers at the wheel. Soft spot for the 65 396 Vette.- Top

I would say you are showing your age
People tend to pick favorites based on a given time of their life. I'd guess from the C2 and mid to late '60s comments most made that you guys are between 50 and 60 years old. Surprised no one picked the GT40.
Older would be picking the '57 and '62 Corvettes, the Scarabs, the Listers, the first GTOs, '57 Ford Skyliner(?), etc.
From about 40 to 50 would tend to pick the late '60s to early '70s Corvettes, the '70s exotics like the Pantera, and other Italian creations. They may even like the "Corvette Summer" custom Corvette Mark Hamel drove.
If you were 20 to 30, then the Hondas, Toyotas, Suburus, etc would definitely win out. You might lean towards a ZR1, but odds are you'd have to be 110% Corvette.
I think the cool cars are also based on experiences.
Cars I've thought were pretty cool:
1918 Willys Overland I drove,
'63 Chevy Impala (more than the '64),
'32 Ford pickup hot rod I took a trip in,
a purple '69 Corvette coupe 350/350 I drove before I drove anything fast,
always thought the '63 and '67 Corvette coupes were cool,
the '68 Corvette,
Lamborghini Miura,
Maserati Bora and Merak,
'70 Mustang Mach I (I didn't think you could have a backglass in a car that flat - I could never stand the claustrophobia of the back seat today),
the '69 Camaro along with the '67, '68, and '70-'72,
Austin Mini - almost any year,
'74 Lotus Elite,
the Kaiser-Darrin,
'97 Corvette,
my uncle's new aqua '57 Chevy convertible,
and so on.- Top
