Did 68 gas tank sending unit have a date on it?

I seem to recall that somewhere near the gas tank sending unit there was a date of some sort. Anyone know the details on this.

My 1969 435 HP car's original tank had a date code stamped into the metal locking flange spot welded to the tank. The car was built end of Feb 1969 and the ring was stamped 2 69 but I don't remember if there was a dash between the numbers. If you want, I should be able to check my Oct 68 car in the next week or two (it's in storage).

I looked at that metal flange closely on the tank that came out of a 68 and I did not see any date. Interesting? I am interested in seeing what you find on your 68. Terry

The original tank from my July 18 built '68 is in my basement with some of the build sheet still attached. There is no marking on the flange. There is a fuel sender installed. That has no date on it either. Can't be sure it is the original. It has an AC mark on it.

I'd be very surprised to learn if AC Spark Div. put a date on such a part.

Perhaps I can find a print (for viewing only, as they told me before.)

I have a tank sending unit and all it says is AC and made in USA from what I can see. The round flange doesn't have a date on it either. So, the dating thing must have started in later cars. Does your original tank have a faint coating of rust on it? Mine does. It doesn't look like it was ever plated.
