I have been working 6 months now replacing repro parts with correct ones. Items like M/C, dist. panels, list goes on. One thing bothers me.(actually everything bothers me) The black hood stinger is off 1/8" where they meet on front. I CAN NOT adjust hood. no way. too tight on both ends in front when hood is up. I guess I could have front clip repainted to line up with hood stinger. I will be worried about paint match!! I may open up a can of worms.Rather not go there. It is a GM replacement hood. Anybody know how many points will be deducted? Also I wonder if hood itself will cause deducts. Thanks as always, Don

Re: stinger on 67 BB
65 points are alloted for originality and 55 points for condition of body fiberglass and fit. The hood is only a portion of that so your hit would be a percentage. 5-10%???
Body paint has 45 points for originality and 40 points for condition.... again your stinger would be a percentage.....
Someone probably painted the stinger off the car and messed up on the dimensions. If you want a smooth transition from valence to hood you need to mask the two pieces together while the hood is bolted in place for perfect alignment.
Paint match could be a major concern..... especially if its Marina Blue. Been there done that! 3 Times!!!!!- Top

Re: Steve, How did you know you know Marina Blue?
I didn't! I have a Marina Blue and I found out from experience first hand that you DON'T paint a Marina Blue car in pieces.... It must be assembled so that mating parts are adjacent during painting or you'll get a shade difference....under flourescent lights. I guess its the metallic in it.......- Top
