I'm beginning to think y radiator got replaced last year with a standard type, not the Heavy Duty that it was born with. The ID letters & #'s on the replacement are MU & 52453_12. The empty digit is either a 6 or an 8.
Can anyone ID? Thanks.
It's definitely a replacement radiator. Whether or not it's the correct replacement is hard to say. Here's why:
There were 2 different radiators originally used for cars with the V08 HD cooling package. If the car was also equipped with equipment codes V84, V01, or VT7, then the original radiator used was GM #3055309. That radiator was discontinued in July, 1999 and replaced by GM #52481572. The latter radiator was discontinued about 18 months ago and replaced by GM #88959432 which remains available. These radiators are coded "MK"
If the car was equipped with V08 HD cooling and WITHOUT equipment codes V84, V01, or VT7, then the radiator used was GM #3049562 or GM #3058870, the same radiators used for all cars without V08 and coded "MU". Those radiators were discontinued and replaced by GM #52453612 which is, apparently, the radiator currently installed on your car.
So, it all depends upon what your "service parts identification label" says were the other equipment codes applicable to your car.
My car has auto transmission. None of Joe's numbers match mine, so I assume that those are for M/T, and that you have Doug Nash equipped car. Please disregard, as that is for an A/T car.
