    Corvette master cylinder

I have a 5455509 master cylinder with a D7 stamped on it. I think it came off a 1970 Corvette but I do not know anything else about it. Anyone know?

    Thanks,
    Scott

      Don,
Are you saying the same master cylinder can be used for both Manual and Power Brakes? I always thought they were different, at least in bore size and perhaps other differences as well.

        Kurt -

For '67 (only), the exact same master cylinder was used for both manual and J50 power brakes - the 5455509, stamped "DC" on the machined surface at the front, and a "deep-hole" rear piston.

Kurt, I just bought a 509 with a DC stamp in front on e bay. Installed it in a 67 power brake. From the help I recieved on tech. line it was correct for all 67s EXCEPT J56 Heavy duty.
After 67 it was used only on NON P/B. Hope I have it correct. Works good on my 67 P/B tho. Don

Yup, that's why the '67 power brake booster used a LONG front pushrod; all other year power brake cars used the SHORT front pushrod, as they had the shallow hole in the rear piston. Manual brake master cylinders always have the deep-hole rear piston so the pedal pushrod won't fall out.
