what is this part number #4975167 - know it is a shock, but for what year application? Service Replacement or what?

I presume that this number is a number stamped on the shock, itself. If so, I can't tell you what it's for. However, I can tell you that it's a part number issued about 1973 or later.

And I can tell you it is a Delco, Dayton Ohio, issued part number.
