    Re: Nope, just the opposit...

    Dave,

I wasn't serious. I was saying "looks good" in hopes that everyone would get a grin out of it. The grain, or lack thereof, is hopelessly incorrect and resembles nothing that ever came out of any engine plant. Originally, it would have been dead straight, front to back, and was not made up of thin lines as the one in his photo.

Hope the guys that are keeping records on all the engine stamp pads record this one. I think this one deserves some sort of award. Probably the only Flint assembled 435 in the country today. (it will be restamped more correctly next month)

      Pardon my lack of coffee

I should slow down before responding. I heard the broaching machine which did this work was for sale a while back, but was the sixe of an oversize trailer, plus it was totally worn out.

        Broaching Machine

I vaguely remember reading a post months ago about the deck surface machine and I believe it was Mike Mccagh that said it was eventually scrapped. I think he said it was for sale but no one had any idea what to do with it because of it's size.

I just made some realistic looking broach marks

on my little bench vise with a Craftsman belt sander, just cleaning up the dings.

That was not really a response to your comment. I just think it is interesting how much more can be seen when you blow a picture up.
