Does anyone know if there is a specific measurement regarding how far the chrome exhaust extensions/tips should protrude from the rear panel? Right now I have installed mine to extend from the BODY 2.5 inches.

Kurt I measured my 68 and came up with the following measurements. I have replaced both of my original tips many years ago and don't even know if they would pass NCRS technical inspectors. However both of my 68's tips are about 3 1/4 inches from the chrome exhaust bezel. I measured from the top tip of the exhaust tip to the bottom of the top center of the exhaust bezel right below the lip of the chrome exhaust bezel. -

Thanks for the response. I measured mine at exactly the same location you did. The AIM or anything else I have seen does not provide a reference measurement that we can adhere to. It is comical to me that after 10 long years I am finally down to such nitpicking tasks as measuring exhaust tips since over the last few years when I was looking at a 68 skeleton with piles of parts everywhere, I had my doubts if I would ever finish this car. It's nice to only have minor details left to deal with.
