    '66 SMALL BLOCK RADIATOR DATING

I'm aware of the "six month" rule for judging purposes, but I was wondering how close to the car's build date people are finding the date of their original, small block radiators..Thanks...

Re: '66 SMALL BLOCK RADIATOR DATING

While I don't remember the actual build date of my 66 L79 (sold four years ago), thhe VIN was in the mid 18000 range. IIRC the car was built around mid-April. I have the original radiator sitting in my garage and it is a Mar 66 stamp. The rad worked ok, just was tired and wanted to slightly overheat at highway speed.

My 64 was built Friday October 30 1963. The date on the radiator is "63K" (october 63)

          Rob,
My car built 4-15-66, has its radiator stamped 66C (march 66)

            Why not take a look...

at Noland Adam's survey data in his Vol 2 Corvette restoration book? You'll find a reasonable list there of rad dates vs. '66 car VIN numbers and you should be able to answer the question yourself...

My '66 L79 is #1649 and has the original radiator dated 65J (September 1965).
