C2 & C3 Rear springs "Made in China"

I looking to purchase a new big block rear spring and was informed by Virginia Vetts that the market is flooded with junk c2 & c3 rear springs that sag when installed. It was explained these inferrior springs have flooded the marked, are made in China, and have generated many complaints. Has anyone heard of this problem and is there a reliable source for a quality spring?

    Thanks

    Bill

Not heard of this problem, but many sources on this board have given good references to Eaton Detroit Spring in Detroit, MI

Yes - in fact I generatd a post on the corvette action center about this.

        Here is the post

Wow -- you folks are not going to believe this one. My freind with the spring problem was over Contes Corvettes this morning. There were three leaf springs on the garage floor. He asked what was going on and the mechanic (George) told him they were all bad and were being shipped back to the parts houses. It turns out that the latest batch of springs (overseas mfg) have evidently been made wrong. The springs get installed, they look fine, and then the next morning they are all drooping just like my freinds. Needless to say, he called the parts house and the spring is going back. Amazing and Sad.

He ended up getting a spring from Bairs which was made in the USA and worked fine - no sag. Bairs was aware of the problem.

The vast majority of "sagging rear spring" problems can be solved with a new set of spring link cushions - about ten bucks - to replace the 20-40 year old compressed and rock hard installed cushions.

You will also notice a dramatic reduction in ride harshness.
