The judging manual for my '60 245 hp states that the spark plug boot should be orange, Letric Limited states that the judging manual is wrong and that they should be black, can someone confirm this.

Peter,
I agree with Letric Limited. I don't think the orange boots appeared until at least the early 70's or later.

I think you've got an old, outdated copy of the JG book... The current edition reads:
"Carbureted plug wire distributor boots are straight; FI boots are 90-degree for 1958 cars and straight for 1958-60 cars. Plut boots are black, distributor boots are black. Wires are not dated are are marked with 'RADIO GM' and 'TVRS' in white lettering."- Top

You didn't ask, but...
I've had plenty of trouble with reproduction plug wires. Every now and then a set works right, but not very often.
If you want your car to perform well, install a new Delco #508N wire set.
If you're building a trailer potato, ignore the above advice. The repro wires will allow you to hobble on and off a trailer okay.- Top

agree wholehartedly with jerry. one tug on a lectric limited repo plug wire and the carbon core is toast.one can make up a set of steel core plug wires and have the stamps made to stamp the home-made plug wires , if you're gonna have it judged. mike- Top
