    1990 ZR1 Speakers

Does anyone have experience with the repair or replacement of the rear speakers in a 1990 ZR1? Any idea how expensive part replacement or repair would be.

    Thanks in advance

Are you just replacing the speakers or the amps or both?

Generally, the amps give out on the Bose systems. There are several outfits that rebuild the amps for a reasonable fee. Do an interned search and you will find them.. I used an outfirt in Texas for mine.

The normal charge has been $75.00 each in the Chicago area.

justin, clup and jerry: can you guys expand on the problems one encounters when a boise speaker takes a crap. the boise setup in the ole 61 Farm Use vette will work properly for a couple minutes then a loud screeching sound takes over the music. mike

Generally the failure mode is a bcakground noise in the speakers at any volume. If you turn down the volume on the radio and the schreeching is still there it is the amps. This is an easy way to check any Bose system noise as the amps are powered independently from the volume control, so any noise with the volume turned all the way down (not off) is coming from the amp(s).

John another option is to contact Bose and send them a e-mail message about repair/replacement. They should get back to you with an e-mail and tell you where to send the Bose speakers/amps for repair or replacement.

I agree. I did this with all four amps in my 90 coupe. Cost was $56 each, as I recall. BOSE sent me brand new amps, they did not try to repair the old ones.
