    C1 fresh air vent

Can some one tell me the color the underside and bracketry of the fresh air vent door should be. It looks like the one on my car was painted the exterior color and installed after the body was painted because the color is on the rod all the way down to the operater lever. I hope this is a clear enough discription. Thanks David Bodily

    David,

I believe the cowl ventilator was painted on the passenger side floor board and installed after drying. There is a clear pattern of the steel cowl piece on the floor of my '58 outlined in body color.

      David,
The judges look for the arm to be painted gloss black, but to have body overspray part way down the arm. My recollection was that the vent was painted on the car and only the overspray that got through the screen landed on the arm. There were several parts painted on the floor of the car, but I didn't recall the cowl vent being one of them.
