    Numbers?

Can you tell if 461 heads are vette heads or just run of the mill heads not always put on vettes. I have a head date casting of "1144", on my 73'truck engine that someone put in my 63SWC.

I am also trying to determine if this engine has been stroked back in the 70's. It's a 350, and has 4.036" bore and a 3.525" stroke.

I looked in one of my repair manuals and saw a 350 that had a 3.480" stroke and was wondering if that is the same stroke for all 350's?
If so, does that mean that some one has stroked this engine? But why only .055" and is that even possible?

If those measurements are correct, then you have 360.78 cid, not 350.

    A 350 is 4.000 bore and 3.480 stroke. A 327 is 4.000 bore and 3.250 stroke.

I destroked an engine once a very slight amount so that we could bore what we needed and yet stay under the class limits on engine size. However, going up a slight amount is different as it isn't for trying to slide under a restriction.

Did they put small journal rods in? Putting in small journal rods on a large journal crank allows stroking on a stock crank without having to spend big bucks for a custom stroker crank, but it limits you to small amounts.

I don't know what size the journals are yet as the bottom end is still together. I wanted to get other information before I did a complete disassembly.
      Thanks for the link though.

        3 5/8 stroker -

You could osffset grind a large journal crank to small journal size and come up with this combo.
