I'm looking at 62 with a block casting 3782870 and an assembly stamp F0613S with no vin on the pad...didn't get the block casting date but it has a cast iron intake with an AFB....Is this a generic low hp service replacement engine? Thanks in advance.
John
GM didn't vin # the pad on pass car chevys till 66 or 67, the exception being Mark4 powered pass cars that got vin #'d starting in 65 .i learned this fact while judging early 60's chevy pass cars at a VCCA meet. i was deducting pad ponts on all the pass cars that lacked vin stampings. chief judge enlightened me. mike
Maybe not in '62, but 1967 to 1969 had both 2 bbl and 4 bbl versions of the 327. I believe the 2 bbl version goes further back but I don't have anything to look them up in right now.
With several codes in '63, I thought one might be a 2 bbl version.
