    Carb. Replacement for 1969 - 350 eng.

I have a 1969 corvette / 350 engine that I am in the process of restoring. The carberator that is currently on the car is a Holley 9834-1, which is mounted on an Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold.

My goal is to restore this vehicle back to its orginal equipment. Can someone tell me if the Holley carberator above was standard for this vehicle. If not, which carberator was? Also, does anyone know which intake manifold would have come with this engine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

holley 9834 is a pre emission 600 CFM universal carb, not the correct one for your car

      EJ-----

ALL 1969 Corvettes with 350 (both base and L-46) were originally equipped with a Rochester QuadraJet carburetor. Different part numbers were used based on engine and transmission. However, all of the carbs are similar and can be functionally converted to any other.

All 1969 Corvettes with small block were originally equipped with a cast iron intake manifold of GM casting #3927184. This manifold was not unique to Corvettes and was used on many other 1969 Chevrolet small blocks with QJet carbs. So, it's not particularly rare.

Thanks for the information. How would I go about determining if the engine is a base 350 or an L-46?

        Thanks,

Depending on how originl things are is could be as easy as the finned aluminum valve covers on the L-46, open element air cleaner, or more definative, the number on the engine block pad just in front of the passenger side head.(If the block hasn't been decked)

If the engine is original to the car and hasn't been decked, the engine plant pad stamp will have an "HY" suffix for a base 4-speed or "HZ" for a base automatic. L-46's are all 4-speeds, and will be "HW", "HX" (A/C), or "GD" (A/C and T.I.).
