It's very easy, assuming that the engine pad stamping is intact. The month and year are coded after the plant code (i.e. "F", "V", "T"). Something like "1215" would mean the December 15. For the year, you have to go to the engine casting date and figure the assembly year consistent with the casting date.
Of course, this only tells you the ORIGINAL assembly date of the engine. The engine may have had numerous subsequent "assembly dates" not recorded or coded anywhere.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
