is adding power brakes possible fred dear fellow corvette enthusiasts i have a ' conv that is really a basic car i e hp with very few options since i consider power brakes not only nice to have i was wondering if adding a power brake booster to increase my safety margin as well as the number of options is possible has anyone done this it seems to me that if it will bolt to the firewall and i install the different brake line coming off the master cylinder and connect the vacuum hose to the intake it should it work thanks in advance for your help

re is adding power brakes possible wayne i would agree it ought to be possible assuming its a driver not a show car where originality is paramount i would go one step further and use a booster master cylinder combination that uses a dual master cylinder for that added safety your best bet might be to find an old parts book for corvette to see what parts are different between standard and power brakes and what year the dual master was offered i don't happen to know that the only hooker to that is that the later parts are designed for disk brakes there is at least one vendor specializing in corvette brake upgrades master power brakes give them a call and pose your questions

re is adding power brakes possible jerry if you are not concerned about your documentation the addition is not only possible but rather simple i assisted in this conversion to a this summer all parts are available for the and several companies offer the parts in a complete kit most using both rebuilt g m as well as reproduction parts the entire kit with correct booster sells for about one source is vette brakes however we purchased ours at carlisle complete for on the last day bartering optional good luck
