1972 LT-1 wipers

Dear Sir:

I went to try my wipers on my LT-1 the other day and the door opened, but no movement of the washer motor or the wipers I moved the switch back and forth any suggestions where to start!

Steve turn the wiper override switch between the two pull down switches and see if thr wipers work.

Hi Steve:

Many components in this system, start with the simplest, the fuse for the wiper motor. If the fuse is okay I would check the motor next and make certain that while the switch is on the wiper motor is getting power. Next I would suspect the door travel sensor, ( the switch that signals the wiper motor that the wiper door is open completely and the wipers can now begin their motion). If the door opens chances are good that your wiper switch is functioning. There are several troubleshooting books on the wiper / vacuum system that will always prove helpful also.

Could be a simple missing ground. If the upper part of the center console (where the wiper switch is located) is broken away from the lower part, I believe you will have an open circuit.

Steve, A simple way to check the wiper motor; Unplug the harness wires and attach a 12 volt battery charger to + and - , and plug in to see if it works.
