Can I mount a modern Edelbrock AFB on a 62-65 Corvette intake manifold that originally took the old style Carter AFB?
I know the fuel line, choke, and air horn opening are different. I'm solely interested in whether 4 of the 6 holes on the base of the carb will mate with the 4 studs on the manifold and whether there's any interference for the butterflies.
Chris I have a 63, 327/340 with a troublesome Carter 3621 AFB, and stock IM. I replaced the Carter with an Edlebrock 1406 (650cfm, electric choke) . Bolt pattern, matched perfectly, linkage ditto, little juryrigging for the fuel line, and PCV. One downside, the throat is larger so the original air cleaner no longer fits. But the good news..it runs like a charm. Les
If you're not overly concerned with the appearance looking non-stock, you can use the Edelbrock fuel line fittings, filter and braided hose to the fuel pump. You will need an adapter fitting to the fuel pump to convert from the Edelbrock AN fitting.
