    1966 power antenna

Here are some photos I took of my 66 vette's antenna. It does not appear to be an original 66 antenna. Does anyone know if this is a corvette antenna and what year. Could it be an after-market replacement? It has been on the car for at least 21 years. Thanks for your help.

    Hector

PS I'm new at posting photos and couldn't figure out how to post several photos together. I've included the other photos in separate posts. Sorry. If anyone knows how to accomplish this, let me know.

      1966 antenna tip

      Hector,

The tip looks like the tip on the GM service replacement antenna that was installed on my '66 back in the late 1960's.

There should also be rings on each mast section. Mike

          There's a real antenna on E-bay #4578158886. Yours isn't even close.

I was more interested in knowing if someone could ID this antenna. As one of the previous comments indicates, it may have been a service replacement.

I've got one exactly the same

As Bill C. says probably a GM replacement not long after the stock of originals was exhausted. Once removed from the car, you will notice that the bottom mounting stud is in line with the shaft, not off-set as are the originals. You must fabricate an intermediate bracket to use the original mount hardware. Also, almost impossible to use the original ground plate, as there's not enough projection on the top of the body for the threaded chrome nut.

Works like a damn, though -- much better than the original.
