Has anyone fooled around with the removal and overhaul of one of these? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!

Re: C-3 Trip odometer
Parts to repair the odometers were available at one time from AC Delco jobbers. I have not tried to purchace one in some time though. You might check with your local Chevy dealer and find out who they use for speedo repairs and then check to see if they will sell you the partsDick Whittington- Top

Re: C-3 Trip odometer
You can completely take them apart. It has been a while but you just have to start taking it apart very carefully. TIP: don't touch the numbers on the wheels, they are extremely fragile after so many years and they will simply fall off if handled. I have purchased the wheel assemblies in the past but I seem to recall some slight variation of the characters and color of characters. Try Pacific Corvette for parts. You can alway scavange from another speedo. The rubber washers on the back of the speedo housing seem to be on there last leg usually. If you find a source for those, let me know. I would like to replace mine with new one's if possible. You might find a foam gasket on the inside that is toast also but I am not sure of my recall on that one. Use a very fine/soft artist paint brush to clean the dust out of the area. Don't oil any plastic parts. I don't think it needs to be lubed, there are not a whole lot of moving parts and the plastic stuff seems to last forever.
