    57-62 steering wheel

Found a original 56-62 steering wheel in my basement that my dad must have hung there 25-30 yr's ago... comtemplating having someone restore it back to original condition and maybe use it as a wall decoration in my garage. I listed it on ebay but now having second thoughts about parting with it...anyone know a good restoration guy for steering wheels? and approx. costs to restore this baby?

    By coincidence...

    ...try GARY's Steering Wheel Restoration!

He did a '63 wheel for me two years ago. It was a fantastic job, and it has held up beautifully. You'll have to ask him about cost, but figure on several hundred dollars. Gary is not a great communicator - so be patient.

      Gary,

I took my 63 wheel to Gary's steering wheel restoration and they did a beautiful job. Cost me about 300 as I recall and he was about two or three months with it.

          Hi

I sent an e-mail to Gary about my 62 vette steering wheel to restore it and change color. He told me around $400.00...Is it worth it to you to pay out that much to hang on a wall? If you want to sell it, e-mail me with the color and price. I am looking for a better one.

You are correct about the price vs usage, I may just clean it up as best I can and hang it as is......it is still listed on ebay I haven't pulled it yet and I tried to supersize the pics so potential buyers could get a better look at it.

              Gary,
I re-did my 56 wheel 15 years ago and changed the color from red to beige. Car is a top flight driver with over 25K since restoration. I ground out the cracks and filled with an epoxy filler. Painted with epoxy paint. It does have a couple of hair line cracks but it still looks nice. Never received any deducts on wheel during judging.
