C1 Corvette Nomad Station Wagon?

This showed up at the local Crystal Cove car show yesterday. I wasn't present but saw it in a list of photos posted on one of the Ferrari sites. I thought this was a show car in '54 or '55 but perhaps they made a small run of them? Anyone know more about such a beast?

i believe its a home-made that was based on a 55 chevy pass car nomad station wagon. there was a similar peudo-nomad vette at carlisle couple years ago. craftsmanship was outstanding. mike

Someone is making a conversion kit for later model corvettes. There was also one at the Winter Regional in Kissimmee in January 2004 & 2005. It will probably be there again this coming Jan.

I only know of two .one back east and other here in Ca. I saw the one out here three years ago before it was painted and after it was painted ,This guy had all the body work done in steel but for the front end which was a fiberglass repro. He split the front to widen it and used a real nomad body from the doors back. But was extensively re-work even the tail gate worked like the show car, It's just fantastic and even this word don't give it Justus. He was proud of the detail and the rear gate saying the one back east isn't even close to his and the other's rear gate don't work. He mentioned he had 250K in it.

If I am not mistaken - the orig was dismantled according to Nolans book.

The '54 Nomad at '04 & '05 Winter Regional has a silver body and white top. It has 4 seats and was extremely well detailed with speacial emblems and, I think, a working tailgate. Why not attend the meet in January 2006 and see for yourself?

The pic shown here is a Nomad with a Corvette added on front and some rework in the rear area. Even the tail gate is all Nomad.
The One out here is and I say IS exactly by prints of the real show car of the early 50's. The rear tale gate TOP and BOTTOM disappear in to the body ( like the show car) the top is chopped, I would dare any one seeing this Nomad by using the original prints which are availably mostly is not the real Car , but that it's NOT. It could fool most people even those Corvette guys.

Yup, they are - that was in the Serra Chevy lot at the end of the parade from downtown Flint, before heading out for the old Corvette building on Van Slyke.

While headed to the dentist this morning, I saw the same car out in traffic in Costa Mesa- Good to see the guy's not afraid to drive it!
