What are the correct speed nuts used in the attachment of the front and rear Corvette emblems on 56 and 57 cars? For the front, the AIM (page 84) shows what appears to be rectangular clips. For the rear (page 18), a different kind of nut is shown but is too small to see clearly. Which vendors would have these fasteners? Also, were seals used between the emblem bezel and the body?
The AIM shows no seal but they are available from the vendors. I would think a seal used on the trunk lid would be needed.
Art,
'56 for sure and most all of'57's used the rectangular type"speed clips front and back. IMO the Judging guide is wrong on this detail. I cannot rmember back to the research I did as to when the round clips cam into poduction (recall it was mid, late '57}. Scott Sinclair has been copied on my recommendations to change the judging guide. Regards,
Jim:
The Judging manual does state that rectangular clips were used on the front(see page 31). It says nothing about the rear emblem fasteners. What about seals for the emblems? Were these used on either front or back?
Art. From my recollection, rectangular clps were used on the trunk as well, least wise in '56. I believe seals for the tinnerman's were nothing more than a dab of "dum-dum" on the trunk tinnerman.Probably intended to keep water out of he trunk. The muchlater round "Tinnerman" clips came wih an intergral round thickish seal. Regards,
