Re: The closest to "being delivered" with

Seems like engineering thought they finally had the problems solved and intended to go forward with the 895's, at least on that day. I have to wonder if any of the original 466 heads went through the same ordeal.

-------Come on, Mike. I remember a semi-custom fossil X-racer you seemed to like back in the Classic days!!! You even thought it was a match for a certain low-mileage 435. Stretch and I were reminising about that very day on our way to Carlisle last week. Dont know if you are aware but Podell has the car now.......Bill S

Oh, THAT car! Yes, I well remember that black 59, especially the view I got from the back when it was about two car lengths ahead of me in the 65 396 when we drag raced on Ogden ave through Hinsdale. (that 396 never was fast) That was, supposedly, the old X Bondurant race car from the 50's and early 60's. I still have paperwork from that car. The old race tires that were on that car eventually wound up on Grand Sport #1. If I remember correctly, that car was almost free. George Darrow, the guy that we were buying a lot of cars from in Los Angeles, tossed it in on a five car package just to make the sale. No one even wanted cars like that in the mid/late 70's.

Wonder if you remember the day that Dave Zamora took it for a fast trip east on Ogden ave when.... at about 100 MPH, the hardtop, which wasn't bolted on, suddenly lifted and sailed straight up about 20 stories in the air and eventually landed on the side of the road. Another Classic day at Classic Motors that I will never forget. Thanks for the memories....
