Looking at a 60 with fuel emblems on the side, but missing origional engine and dash cluster. How can I tell if it was a 275hp 0r 290hp?

Re: 60 Fuel injection, 290hp?
Bill,
290hp engines have a 1110914 distributor and a 1102173 generator (4.11" pulley). The distributor drives the tachometer. 250hp engines have a 1110915 distributor and a 1102043 generator (3.625" pulley). The tach is driven from the generator. 275hp engines were '61 only.
Look for an oval shaped hole in the firewall behind the distributor, all 290hp cars had this modification.
Hope this helps.- Top

Also the tach redline - 6500 on the 290 HP version with Duntov cam.
Statistically, it's more likely to have been a 290 HP version (assuming the FI emblems are original) - only 100 250 HP FI engines were installed - 759 290 HP versions.

In addition...
...If the car were a low horse FI, it will have no evidence of air inlet hose forward of the air cleaner or the bracket/s that retain it, also, the rad support should still retain the round block off. If high horse FI, that block off plate will not be there and the 3 punched holes will have no sign of ever having a screw in them. Good luck, Dennis- Top

Re: Maybe somebody removed it...???...
There is no block off plate and the holes look untapped. Should there be a screen there like on the other side?- Top
