Picked up a few parts today at a garage sale - what is the application for a flywheel with the following P/N: 3873456

I don't see it in group 0.666 "FLYWHEEL, with ring gear" in GM parts book rev. 6-79. You are probably looking at a cast number, which is often not the same as the part number sold.

thanks for responses - as I mentioned in my post, it is a flywheel and is the number that is on the flywheel

The original PART number for this piece was GM #3866735. In October, 1971, that became GM #3991406. In October, 1985, it became GM #14085720. The last time I checked, this piece was still available. The 14085720 may or may not carry the 3856579 casting number.

thanks for the response - was just trying to figure out the application - picked the flywheel and bell housing up at a garage sale - owner was moving and couldn't remember what the flywheel came out of - I assumed it was a late 1960's or early 1970's Vette
