    69 427 cylinder heads

    hi guys

what is an acceptable time span for to be judged on external engine parts, compare to engine build date ?

iam lookin to get 2 cylinder heads for my 427 L-68 4 speed 69 vette
can those 2 cylinder heads fit my needs ?
(my vette was manufactured on dec 17 68) about 5 1/2 month apart !!!
is those 2 heads are the same as corvette heads ?

    Re: 69 427 cylinder heads

The 063 casting oval port heads are not at all rare and were used on almost all of the 1969 396 and 427 oval port production run (even Impalas, Chevelles, Camaros, etc.). The ones you are looking at are severely overpriced, you can usually get a dirty set for less than $100 a pair (you may also want to check your local machine shop core piles). Frequently, the cores for oval port heads cost less than the shipping charges.

Typically, the oval port engine parts are dated about 2 to 4 weeks prior to the engine assembly date - 5 1/2 mos is a reach.

    Good luck,
    Mark
