    1959 engine block

    i have a 1959 fuelie with a casting of m59 above drivers side rear freeze out plug.what does this casting represent.please help

    If there isn’t a casting date on the right side bell housing flange (passenger side) and the only thing resembling a casting date is on the side of the block in the frost plug area your block could be a Canadian made engine from McKinnon Industries in St. Catharines Ontario.

    The above may not apply depending on where the M59 is located. Your post is not clear to me when you say “above drivers side rear freeze out plug” do you mean by rear that the M59 is cast in the rear of the engine. The area covered by the clutch assembly and bell housing? Or do you mean the rear of the drivers side of the engine in the frost plug area?

      hi dan thanks for the feed back. the m59 is on the side of the engine block drivers side just above the rear frost plug.hope this is enough info for you to give me a better idea what this is.thanks for any help you can give me.mike 42067
