How should the '67 seat bottom catches be finished. Mine are currently rusted chrome.
Also, does one need to disassemble the seat tracks to replate them or to replace rusted mounting plates? If so, how do you get them apart? It looks like the "stop" is a pressed in dimple in one side of the track.
Scott. My '67 seat latches had kind of a frosted painted or plated look. It was very hard to tell. After I cleaned them up, I just used the argent silver paint that I used on my rallye wheels and painted the catches. They look great and it was obviously very easy to do.
The stop is a rivet of some sort. I refurbished mine with the tracks together.
I bed blasted them and then I used Krylon "Ultra Camoflauge" paint. My tracks were pretty good, the nylon runners were still white/yellow and the paint matched very well.
I have some photos of before/after to compare the finish if you want them. Just e-mail me.
