Re: vin #
There are two places. One is on the driver side rail on top around 6 inches before the rear crossmember. However, without lifting the body or cutting a hole in the door sill, it is very hard to ever see this one.
The other is on the driver side rear rail over the shock area. These moved around in some of the years, so if you know where the one was on the 1963, then the 1967 is close. I believe it is a bit forward of the '63 stamp.
With the body on, the frame in typical used condition, it is hard to see them. I've used mirrors and flashlights, fine sandpaper (probably not recommended) to clean rust/dirt, damp rag/paper towel to rub and darken the frame being damp such that the numbers are lighter being dry.
Hope that helps.- Top

Re: vin #
stamping on frame, if rust or grinder hasn't removed it or if its not a gm service replacement frame , will be on the LEFT side of the frame, usually above left rear tire on top side of frame wall. also look on left side of frame about where your left buttock/upper thigh would be located if you were in the drivers seat.mike- Top

Re: vin #
I found my VIN # on the top frame rail, next to the drivers seat. It was very hard to see. I cleaned it up real good with steel wool and penetrating oil, etc. Then I smeared the entire numbered area with a VERY THIN coat of bearing grease.
Then I took a wooden paint stirrer about 6" long and mixed up a batch of fiberglass filler with hardener and spread it out on the paint stirrer about 1/4" thick. I quickly stuck the stirrer between the frame and body and pressed down hard on the number area and held it perfectly still, until the fiberglass flashed and hardened. The grease acted as a release agent. I gently lifted the stirrer off the frame rail and had a nice impression of the VIN number on the fiberglass, only the numbers were backwards.
Then I sprayed the whole thing with black engine paint, let dry and then very lightly wet sanded the numbers with #600 grit sandpaper until the numbers were visibly gray and easily readable. Then I placed it on my scanner and took a JPEG of it and loaded it up to Adobe Photo Deluxe and "flipped" the image around so the numbers weren't backwards anymore. Photo is below. Now I have the impression with the rest of my documentation, which I can easily retrieve to show. PT

Re: vin #
Steve, as you can see it's 7S122526, which would make it a '67 car, so I assume your VIN starts with a '9'. PT- Top
