C5 Transmission Noise

I know this is not a new question, and the GM dealer tells me the noise is normal. But when the car is cold and I start out in first gear it is really annoying. Has anyone found a way to quiet this beast?

this is even mentioned in your owners manual and it could be eliminated by using a dual mass clutch like the ZR-1 but the extra weight would slow the 0-60 times by .2 of a seconds.

I think you mean dual mass flywheel. The dual mass flywheel was also used on all 1992-96 LT1 and LT4 in Corvettes. By the way, these units cannot be resurfaced and GM list for about 1000 bucks. So, you don't want to let your clutch friction disc "get down to the rivets" if you've got a dual-mass flywheel.

Thanks for the response. Yep it is in the owners manual, it is even on the DVD they provide. I was hoping someone had a solution like STP, oops I am dating myself. I guess I just need to warm it up before pulling out of parking lots so people don't mistake it for a red ice crusher.
I am not following how the clutch will quiet the rattling gears in the transmission, as that is what all the books I read say the noise is. Can you explain?
